October
11 – 30, 2004
After
several beautiful Autumn days at Lunga Reservoir, we left for Fort Wayne on October 15, as planned, to
visit Michael. The trip was
uneventful. Renée took the lead with
the Ford Escort and utility trailer while Chuck followed with the RV. The trip took us from Virginia
to West Virginia, through the mountains in
western Maryland then northwest to Pennsylvania where we
spent the night at a truck stop, since we were quite tired and had reached the
half way point. We got an early start
the following morning and continued toward Wheeling,
West Virginia where we crossed into Ohio and finally to Indiana, arriving at Michael’s in the
afternoon, parked the RV and went out to eat with Michael and the kids. The following day (Sunday) we celebrated
Michael’s 35th birthday. The
kids were on Autumn break so we had a few days with them to practice our
grandparenting skills.
The
RV is parked in Michael’s driveway and we are enjoying a full service hookup
(elecricity, water & sewer). We are
in the process of unpacking, sorting and repacking with not much to
report. Renée has developed Bronchitis
for the second time this year which has slowed here down a bit. Chuck is busy as always. Michael is taking a week off to begin the
attic renovation for Katja’s new room.
Our
travel plans in the immediate future include a trip to the RV manufacturer
nearby in Indiana. We have a list of minor problems and a few major
ones to get corrected. It is not often
that one has the opportunity to show a manufacturer some of the goof-ups and we
intend to take advantage of “going to the source of the problem” rather than
having a dealer somewhere do a makeshift correction. In early December we plan to attend the Morton
Christmas Party in Kentucky, spending a little time there. Chuck’s sister and brother-in-law have a
Tobacco Farm there and we will park somewhere on their 300 acres. How long we stay will depend on the weather
but we do plan to return to Fort Wayne where we
will start “The Big Tour”, beginning with a trip to Florida to establish ourselves as residents
for tax purposes.
