Sam Houston (1793 - 1863)

Die ca. 27.000 kg (60.000 pounds) schwere Statue von Huntsvilles
berühmtestem Bewohner, Sam Houston, erhebt sich nahe der Interstate-45
(Autobahn) auf einem 3 Meter hohen Granitsockel 20 Meter (67 feet) hoch
in die Luft. Es ist weltweit die größte Statue eines Amerikaners.

The largest statue of an American is that of Sam Houston located just
south of Huntsville, Texas, overlooking Interstate Highway 45. The
statue is 65 feet tall, weighs 60.000 pounds and can be seen for a
couple of miles when driving up the Interstate from the south.
